Özet
The housing problem is one of the widespread problems that are
exacerbated greatly due to importance and vitality of this problem.
Therefor this study aims to analyze the unplanned expansion of
residential use resulting from the increase in the size of the
population, which led to the fragmentation of housing units within
the neighborhoods and the construction of unplanned random
units, and that put pressure on the infrastructure services of the
city of Baghdad. The natural of growth of the population and the
internal displacement of the areas of security tension was behind
the aggravation of the problem, as random housing reached 416
complexes that occupied an area of 37,87602 Km2 on 2018.
The failure to develop solutions and remedies for this problem and
the weakness of control and law of the violations were built on lands
belonging to the state that belong to the Baghdad Municipality and
the Ministry of Finance and Justice and other ministries.
Moreover, these excesses affected the basic plan of the city of
Baghdad and distorted its morphology, and became 26000unable
to meet the needs of its inhabitants and put pressure on
infrastructure services, as the number of slum-dwelling citizens
reached about 2.600.000 people, which constituted 33% of the
population of Baghdad.
