Abstract


THE ANALYSIS OF NASREDDIN HODJA AND HIS JOKES UNDER THE CATEGORY OF MEMORY SURVEYS OF JAN ASSMANN'S
Nasreddin Hodja, who represents the smiling face of Turkish folk culture, is a high-grade archetype that carries the bases of wisdom in existence in the cultural and sociological context. The hero, who gives the manifestation of the necessities of existence that is one with social tradition, customs, and human emotions, engrains self-consciousness to people and societies while presenting the shining face of past, today and tomorrow. In this context, Nasreddin Hodja jokes are the basic dynamics which are a guide to people and societies in terms of protecting their cultural memory and dignity. Nasreddin Hodja jokes are images that roborant to memory and provides a reconstruction of the memory which makes up the basic "I". The memory alludes to the life that flows into the future while protecting the memory of society. This flow can be realized with the continuation of the family by having power as well as the cultural items that constitute the basic dynamics of the social memory. The jokes, which are the treasures of the cultural memory (short screams), constitute the reflected face of the social consciousness, by this means. Nasreddin Hodja jokes are like myths, fairy tales, legends that contains pedagogical education of the social groups that pulled out in this sense. Hence, Nasreddin Hodja jokes are a micro-universe with a symbolic narrative that provides perceiving the values regards as blessed to the next generations. Nasreddin Hodja has had the power to carry on his manifestation which created itself on this path in the name of civilization and science in the micro-universe since the years 1200's through his jokes. The aim of the study is exposition the hero, who is accompanied to the road and the passenger with jokes, and his advice in the manner of Jan Assman's memory types.
