Abstract


THE EFFECTS OF FLIPPED LEARNING ON STUDENT SUCCESS IN FLUTE EDUCATION
The purpose of study is to test the efficacy of the teaching program based on flipped learning model compared to the traditional teaching. The pretest and posttest control group experimental pattern was used in the research to determine this effect. The study group consists of 30 students from Black Sea Technical University Music Education Program in 2016-2017 academic years. The Study Group was divided into three groups based on their levels; as the starter (n:10), intermediate (n:10) and advanced (n:10) level groups. In this respect, the Purposive Sampling method was used in the selection of the students to be included in the study group. The reason for the use of the purposive sampling method was to determine the effect of the practice on the starter, intermediate, and advanced level students. Then, by using the unbiased allocation method, the experimental and control groups were formed as the starter experimental (n: 5), control (n: 5); intermediate experimental (n: 5), control (n: 5) and advanced experimental (n: 5) and control (n: 5) groups. The pretests applied to both groups in order to study the equivalence of the experimental and control groups and the levels of the experimental and control groups were found to be equivalent. Data collection tool of the research is “Academic Success Test" In the research, the non-parametric Mann Whitney-U and Wilcoxon Signed Rank tests were applied. According to the results of the study; the control group students' academic success displayed a significant increase compared to the experimental group students.
