Abstract
AN EXAMPLE OF NATIONALIST POLICIES OF THE SINGLE-PARTY ERA: THE CUKUROVA REGION’S HARS COMMITTEES
Instead of the Western origin concept the "culture", in the late Ottoman period the concept used by some Turkic intellectuals as a "hars". This approach continued in the early years of the Republic, it will be discussed in this time period the changing of the concept meaning by some political and cultural conditions. In this article, will be dealt with an example of the single party's nationalist policies the Hars Committee and its major operations in the Cukurova region. Due to the political content of the concept of hars in the era of single party and in connection with Hatay Problem between the years of 1937-1939 central governments conducted a series of studies on Turkish nationalism axis towards to Nusayriah living in the Cukurova region.
