Abstract


INVESTIGATION OF ALPHA GENERATION’S PERCEPTIONS AGAINST CHEMICAL SCIENCE: QUALITATIVE RESEARCH
The aim of this study is to determine the perceptions of Alpha generation towards chemistry. In this study, literature is researched about alpha generation, characteristics and expectations of Alpha generation are defined. In the study where qualitative research method was determined, content analysis was used as the analysis method. The Alpha generation students aged 6-8 were asked the question “What is chemistry?, and the students were asked to illustrate their answers. The research participants consisted of 14 female and 9 male students. The participants of the research were 23 female and 14 female and 9 male students. The alpha generation used all colors without distinction when depicting chemistry. The alphabets used 19 different shapes when depicting chemistry. Chemistry is generally tried to explain the concepts of test tube, chemical substance and human. A life without digital technology for the alphabet is unimaginable. New reforms in the education system are proposed. Social networks, virtual labs and virtual classroom environments should be involved in the learning process and integrated with the education system. It is a necessity to renew the education system for Alfas, which is stated to be the most transformative generation ever.
