Abstract
INTERNATIONAL MIGRATION AND IMMIGRANTS" ROLE OF MEDIA IN PERCEPTION AND SOCIAL COHESION IN TURKEY
Migration, which has existed since the past, is a common problem in today's societies. Social cohesion in this period, when international mobility is on the rise, is a particular issue to be emphasized. In addition to organizing government policies on the acceptance of immigrants, indigenous people must volunteer to live together. In situations where mutual harmony and coexistence are not possible, ethnic conflicts will be inevitable.
In shaping the social cohesion in Turkey, the share of news published by the media is quite large. Migrants, how it is reflected by the media, affects the perception of migrants in Turkey. For example; the fact that immigrants in the media have negative effects on the economy causes the people to have such a belief. The immigration issue, which is on the agenda with various news, should be neutral and realistic in the media and should be closed to personal interpretation and direction. The aim of this study is to uncover the role of the media's perception of migrants in Turkey and that the media is of great influence in order to ensure social harmony and make suggestions. In this study, the news about the immigrants in the media will be examined and evaluated by discourse analysis method.
