Abstract
A MARİNE ADVİCE BOOK: IN VERSE SECTİON OF PİRİ REİS’ BAHRİYE
With the conquest of Istanbul, in Ottoman, the interest to marine, geography and cartography increased and the work in this field has increased to peak in 16th century with Pîrî Reis. This article which has been the most important book of marine and geography history; is prepared by Pîrî Reis who has been specialized on map, compass and geography subjects. Pîrî Reis who visited the mediterranean for overall and compiled the notes which he took on his travels, revealed a detailed article which named Bahriye and presented it to Kanuni in 1526. This guide article which contains very important info about mediterranean and marine, is also read a lot in abroad and also came up many copies of it. Because Pîrî Reis’ Bahriye is generally accepted as marine and geography article, the literary value of the in verse intoduction section and advice book is not edited. Whereas, beside being a marine and geography book, Bahriye is exactly a literary article and a marine advice book which has exactly 1200 couplets in intoduction and result section. An article whose introduction and result sections contain a voluminous advice mesnewi, should handled as advice book and it is absolutely natural. These sections are arranged in an appropriate shape, content and style to classic Ottoman advice mesnewis. This article is going to handled and edited as a marine advice book.
