Abstract
THE ASSOCIATIVES OF THE CONCEPTS OF “REALITY” AND “EXPECTION” ACCORDING TO THE SYRIANS WHO LEARNED TURKISH AT C1 LEVEL
Turkish education is a necessity for the Syrians who migrate to our country to adapt to social life. For this reason, there are various initiatives to teach Turkish to the Syrians at various stages from primary school to university. At this point, it is important to determine the associatives that the Syrians put into the concepts. Because the associative technique connects social life with language education. In this context, it is educationally and socially important to identify the associatives that the Syrian refugees put on the concept of "truth" and "expection". Because the Syrians living in our country face with reality. Besides, they demand expection for the future. For this reason, the words "real" and "hope" for the Syrians are vital. Determining the associatives of these two words can be supportive both in teaching Turkish and in solving social problems. In light of these reasons, the aim of this study is to determine the associatives related to the “reality” and “expectation” concepts of the Syrians learning Turkish at level C1. When collecting the datas, the learner wrote five different associatives for the concepts of "reality" and "expectation". The research group of the study consisted of Syrians students at level C1 at the Adana Science and Technology University TÖMER and the Mersin University TÖMER. In this research in the descriptive scanning model, the associatives of words were analyzed by taking frequency and percentage.
