Abstract
EVALUATION OF TEXTS IN THE FIFTH GRADE TEXTBOOK IN TERMS OF SAMPLING OF LISTENING/WATCHING TYPES
One of the greatest signs of sociality is communication in which people provide mutual knowledge and empathy. In communication the person is confronted as both speaker and listener. In this study, listening/watching texts in the fifth grade Turkish teacher guide book distributed free of charge to schools by the Ministry of National Education to develop the listening/watching skills of our children, who are parts of social life, were evaluated in terms of sampling the listening/watching types.
The fifth grade Turkish teacher guide book examined by the books, articles and theses in the field survey was scanned through a document review. The results obtained from the scan were solved by means of descriptive analysis.
The themes in which the listening/watching texts are examined in the research are presented as table form in the teacher’s guide book and in the student’s workbook for the listening/watching activities.
The findings show that children should be more involved in listening/watching skills which are important not only in their life but also in their social life, and that listening/watching types should be diversified.
