Abstract
TURKISH SUFI TRADITION IN SEBINKARAHISAR AND ALUCRA REGION
It is known that Turkish Sufis have very important services on the Turkish settlement in the eastern Black Sea region where is subjected to. Especially in the rural areas of the region it is possible to see the traces of the sufis frequently. We see important contributions of Turkmen elements such as Guvenc Abdal and Cagirgan Veli from Harsit Valley in the conquest of Eastern Black Sea region. We can express the day-to-day effects of the practices of these Turkish dervishes in society's life.
Cagirgan Veli, known as the teacher of Yavuz Sultan Selim, is one of the most prominent dervishes in Alucra and its around. The Sufis leaded the local people not only in religious matters, but also in all matters about the society in the meanwhile. It is also known that these services of the sufis play an important role the region becomes a part of the Turkish-Islamic civilization.
This study tried to reveal the presence of the Sufis in the region, the areas of services they performed and the daily effects of the services and the cultural and civilizational accumulation of Sebinkarahisar and Alucra region hundreds of years. In the study, priority was given to the search of the literature and besides this, interviews were held with those who had knowledge about the subject by going to the region.
