Abstract
ACTIVITIES OF IMPERIAL STATES IN BAGHDAD BEFORE THE GREAT WAR AND ATTITUDE OF OTTOMAN EMPIRE AGAINST THE ACTIVITIES
This article, focuses activities of imperial states in Baghdad before the Great War. Baghdad is a critical city where witnessed intensive politic, religious and economic interventions of imperial states before The Great War due to its geopolitic and geostrategic location. Especially both England and Russia competed here mercilessly to attain domination with each other by means of their consulates. Within this context English and Russian consulate officers frequently visited Baghdad and its environment under the supervision of Ottoman local officers. They efforted to win over tribals to obtain intelligence information from they. On the other hand in the process Germany started to research oil in Baghdad and its environment thanks to its good relations with Ottoman although England objected to this situation.
