Abstract
LOAN ANIMAL NAMES IN THE HISTORICAL TURKISH DIALECTS
Onomastic is an important field of study in linguistics. The name of the animal called zoonim examines animal names. In cases where the root and suffixes in our tongue are inadequate to meet new concepts, the help of foreign tongues can be applied. Words we have received from foreign languages are quoted in linguistics. Among the borrowed words at languages are most names and adjectives. Most of the words about the animals in our tongue are Turkish. As a result of cultural interactions, we also have animal names from foreign languages. Turkish language is rich in terms of animal names. Some of these words have been used extensively over time, some of which have undergone meaningful changes over time, and others have been used day by day, melting in the sound and shape of the Turkish language. Both the quotations and these names, which are of Turkish origin, are very important in terms of their usage and their meanings. Animals have various names according to their nutritional and reproduction characteristics with their physical characteristics such as colors, structures, organs. Animals have been in a wide range of influence in Turkish culture. The Turks have begun to deal with livestock in ancient times and have provided all kinds of livelihoods from them. Some are sanctified and totems are brought up, some of them are not considered very important, some of them are used only for clothing and other natural needs. It has been seen that animals are interested in hunting later in time, as they benefit from meat, milk and dairy products. The Turks, in their previous semi-nomadic lives and their later settled lives, have used the names of every animal in a wide variety of meanings.
