Abstract
EDUCATION SYSTEM OF DENMARK: COMPARISON WITH TURKEY IN TERMS OF PURPOSE, STRUCTURE AND PROCESS
The aim of this research is to compare the Turkish Education System with the Danish Education system. In this context, the geographical, social, political and economic restructuring of Denmark was first introduced. The Danish Education System has been handled in terms of purpose, structure and process. At the last stage of the research, the Turkish Education System and the Danish Education System are compared in terms of purpose, structure and process. When the Danish Education System with the Turkish Education System are compared, it is seen that the countries have similarities in the purpose dimension and differences in the structure and process dimensions. Localization is dominant in the construction of the education system in Denmark. While the legislation and the general rules on education are set by the ministry, the local authorities have authority and responsibility for the implementation. In contrast, the administrative structure of the education system in Turkey has a central characteristic. On the other hand, while the universities have no authority or responsibility in choosing higher education students in Turkey; the universities in Denmark have a say in the process of holding an examination to the applicants and accepting of those who succeed. As a result, it can be said that the Danish Education System is more developed than the Turkish Education System.
