Abstract
AN ANALYSIS ON INDUSTRY SHARE TARGET OF PARTICIPATION BANKING IN TURKEY
This paper was prepared to make an evaluation about participation banking’s market share target which is at 15% in Turkey. The subject dealt with from aspects of market share, banks, branch and employee number, total asset size, credits, securities, participation fund, shareholder’s equity, capital adequacy, profitability, product and service range, alternative distribution channel and payment instruments. In order to reach 15% industry growth target, participation banking should increase growth rate. For this, entering of new actors to the sector, going on branch opening with increasing speed, accelerating of total asset size, credit, security, participation fund, shareholder’s equity, profitability which are low by comparison conventional banks, providing product and service range by completing developing deficient product and services, making up the difference with conventional banks in alternative distribution channel and payment instruments and sustaining current capital adequacy level which is at the industry level are all important issues. It is necessary to take appropriate action on these subjects. Also, this paper is pioneer and unique study in Turkey due to fact that there is no study about market share target of participation banks.
