Abstract


LIFELONG LEARNING TENDENCY LEVELS OF THE TEACHERS WHO WORK IN RELIGIOUS VOCATIONAL SECONDARY SCHOOLS AND RELIGIOUS VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOLS
The purpose of this study is to determine the life long learning tendency levels of teachers who work in religious vocational secondary schools and religious vocational high schools. In this study, general survey method was used as a research method. The sample of this research was composed of 300 teachers, 146 of whom work in high schools, 154 of whom work in secondary schools. Life Long Learning Tendency Scale which has been built by Coşkun (2009) was used as data collection tool. The research results are as follows: 1- Religious vocational secondary school and religious vocational high school teachers’ life long learning tendency is higher-up according to the possible highest score which can be achieved. 2- The study shows that female teachers generally have higher life long learning tendency level than males. On motivation sub-dimension, single teachers have higher lifelong learning tendency level than married ones. On the sub-dimension of deprivation of organising learning , the teachers who have worked for 1 to 5 years have higher life long learning tendency level than the ones who have worked 26 years and more and the teachers who have worked for 6 to10 years have higher life long learning tendency level than the ones who have worked for 21 years and more. Also the sub-dimension of deprivation of organising learning levels of the teachers who are in the age group of 26-30 was found to be higher than the levels of the teachers who are in the age group of 41 and more. 3- Research results show that there isn’t a meaningful statistical difference according to the teachers’ educational background, type of school in which they work, the faculty they graduated from and the field of study .
