Abstract


MOTIVATIONSLEVEL OF THE STUDENTS IN LEARNING THE GERMAN AS A SECCOND FOREIGN LANGUAGE
The aim of the present study is to investigate the motivationslevel of the students in learning the German as a second foreign language by gender. This empirical study includes a quantitative study. It was carried out with the students (girls N = 39 and boys N = 33# a total of 72 probands) from 10th grade of an anatolian high school from Adana / Turkey in the school year 20014-2015. The questionnaire by Thomas & Müller was used as data collection instrument adapted for this work. The reliability of the Turkish version of the scale was tested by the method of internal consistency again. After the statistical analysis was the Chronbach’s Alpha value of the scale above the border of reliability 0.70. In the analysis of the data collected were first calculated the arithmetic mean values of each factors (motivation types) and total Items of the questionnaire by gender. As the next step t-test for independent samples was used to see if there are statistically significant differences between these mean values. The results showed that the values of girls are higher than the values of boys. And in the analysis of t-test it was evident that a statistically significant differentiation between the overall mean values of the two groups consists.
