Abstract
AN INVESTIGATION OF CONFLICT MANAGEMENT STYLES OF THE HIGH SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS PERCEIVED BY THE TEACHERS
In this study the conflict management styles of high school administrators perceived by the teachers were examined. The study was designed as a survey method. It was carried out with 102 volunteer teachers working in high schools in Bursa in 2012-2013 academic year. ROCI-II Conflict Inventory developed by Rahim and adapted to Turkish by Gümüşeli was used for the research. The inventory has 28 questions within 5 factors called integration, compromising, obliging, dominating and avoiding. Also a questionnaire was given to the sample to collect demographic information. The data was collected in 2012-2013 academic year. Descriptive statistics and t testand Anova were used to analyze the data. The results of the study indicated that while integration style was the least used conflict management style, dominating style was the most used by high school administrators. It was found that there was a significant difference between all the sub dimensions and gender, experience, branch, profesional organization variables. Results showed that high school administrators had a need for conflict management training.
