Abstract
A MINIROTY LIVING IN AUSTRIA: THE ROMANI
The Romani’s history is filled with persecution, oppression and discriminatory policies. This persecution policy culminated in Germany in 1993 when the National Socialists became the ruling party, and Romani became the victims of a genocide which they had never seen in their history. Despite the genocide they were exposed, in many parts of the world prejudices still continue against them. Especially, social, cultural, economic and political exclusions prevent the development of a positive outlook in the consciousness of the Romani who live in these countries. In this study, the historical process and reflections of the process on the Romani People who live in Australia is examined, and Steps taken by the Austrian government on minority rights and developments are analysed.
