Abstract


PUBLIC SCHOOL PRINCIPALS’ WORKLOAD SOURCES, PROBLEMS AND MANAGEABILITY
The purpose of this study was to determine the intensity of public primary and secondary school principals’ workloads, sources and t factors effecting their workloads and their opinions related to the manageability of thier workloads. The research was designed as a phenomenologic design which is one of qualitative research methods. Participants were from 20 public and secondary school principals from Ankara province. In data analysis, quasi-statistical approach and descriptive analysis were used. Findings demonstrated that, current and ideal intensity of principals’ workloads were inconsistent. Most of the principals indicated that their workloads had negative effects on their private lives. Among the factors that makes difficult to manage principals’ workloads; ineffficiency of material opportunities, personnel’s qualitative and quantitative deficiencies, problems in school and parent cooperation were the most prominents.
