Abstract
AN EVALUATION OF SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHERS VIEWS FOR PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SPORTS COURSE
This study is held in public schools due to the Ministry of Education and carried out to determine how the program of middle school physical education and sports lessons are implemented in the physical education and sports teachers’ perspectives.
In this research it is tried to determine whether the teachers’ opinions are received and they are informed or not; tecahers’ views for physical education and sports course; competence of the course in terms of the students, teachers’ opinions and recommendations about the criteria for the courses.
In the research the qualitative research method is used. Data obtained from 50 teachers in the formal township officials in the Ministry of Education secondary schools in Gaziantep province and were analyzed using content analysis method.
As a result, in the preparation of the physical education and sports lesson program teachers’ perceptions are ignored; tecahers are not informed; a vast majority of them expressed their opinions in a negative way; and thought that the course is lack of enough practice Teachers also reported their opinions regarding seven themes of which physical conditions and tools for courseare in the foreground.
The researchers made some suggestions in order to have more effective and efficient Physical education studies and sports lessons program such as : study materials, course, activities, environmental conditions, in-service training, clothing, teacher training, school administration and parents.
