Abstract


SECONDARY EDUCATION TEACHERS’ VIEWS ON EFFECTIVE MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION
The study group of the research, which was conducted with qualitative research method in order to determine the views of secondary education teachers on effective measurement and evaluation, consists of 10 teachers working in secondary education level in Hatay / İskenderun district in the 2024-2025 academic year and determined by simple random method. The data collected through a 5-question semi-structured interview form were interpreted using descriptive analysis method. According to the findings of the research, teachers’ views on the necessity of measurement and evaluation are that it is necessary to determine the success of education, that it is an integral part of education and that it is important to determine the level of students; teachers’ views on measurement and evaluation education are that education is based entirely on theoretical knowledge, that academic education is insufficient, that it is useful in terms of lecturing and that teachers should receive in-service training; teachers’ opinions about measurement and evaluation competencies are that effective measurement and evaluation is done, different measurement tools are used, and there is a moderate level of competence; teachers’ opinions about projects and performance assignments in the measurement and evaluation process are that they develop creativity, they are at a level that students can do, they encourage learning by doing and experiencing, and performance assignments should be increased; and teachers’ opinions about the analysis of measurement and evaluation results are that the intended gains are achieved by the students, the validity and reliability of the questions are checked, question-answer, test, etc. are applied, and learning takes place. It was concluded that teachers’ opinions on the analysis of measurement and assessment results were as follows
