Abstract
IŞIL IŞIK'IN TÜNELDEN ÖNCEKİ BEYAZ EV ADLI KİTAP SERİSİNİN DEĞERLER AÇISINDAN İNCELENMESİ
The progress of a society is possible by raising individuals equipped with universal and national values and having moral values. The country's future should be built on solid foundations by providing individuals with superior qualifications through education and training. The Ministry of National Education drew attention to the issue of values with a press release it made in 2017. In the Turkish Language Course Curriculum, ten root values, namely "justice, friendship, honesty, self-control, patience, respect, love, responsibility, patriotism, and helpfulness", were emphasized. The determined ten root values were increased to twenty with the 2024 Middle School Turkish Language Course Curriculum. The aim of this study is to examine the book series titled The White House Before the Tünel, written by Işıl Işık, in the context of the twenty values included in the Middle School Turkish Language Course Curriculum (2024). In accordance with the purpose of the study, document analysis, one of the qualitative research data collection techniques, was used in the examinations. It has been determined that all of the values of "Justice, family integrity, diligence, friendship, sensitivity, honesty, aesthetics, privacy, mercy, modesty, patience, health, respect, love, responsibility, freedom, savings, cleanliness, patriotism, helpfulness" are included in the work. In other words, the book series includes all twenty values. There are 182 examples of the use of the values in the series. It has been determined that very little space is given to the values of "family integrity, privacy, freedom, savings, modesty", which are among the values that children are expected to gain at school. It has been concluded that the book series is qualified because it includes all 20 values defined in the Turkish Language Course Curriculum. The first book of the series, The White House Before the Tünel, and the third book of the series, Çatı Katı, The White House Before the Tünel, are of a quality that can be included in textbooks in terms of their detective sections. It is recommended that these sections be used in in-class and out-of-class activities.
