Abstract
ATTITUDES OF SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER CANDIDATES TOWARDS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: THE CASE OF ÇANAKKALE ONSEKİZ MART UNIVERSITY
In an environment where technological developments in the world are advancing at an incredible pace every day, the search for keeping up with this development and change process and responding to the changing needs of people continues through various studies in the field of education. The aim of this study is to determine the attitudes of teacher candidates about artificial intelligence, who set out to raise future generations, especially considering that artificial intelligence technology covers our lives day by day, and to contribute to scientific knowledge on this subject. The study was carried out using the scanning method within the scope of quantitative research. The study group of the research consists of 122 teacher candidates who continue their education in the Social Studies Teaching undergraduate program of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Faculty of Education. As a data collection tool; General Attitude Scale Towards Artificial Intelligence was used and the data obtained was analyzed by content analysis. In the light of the data obtained as a result of the research, it has been determined what the attitudes of prospective teachers are today, when artificial intelligence technology has become increasingly widespread, and whether it provides convenience for students in terms of using the technology and accessing information in concrete terms.
