Abstract
THE SOCIAL, CULTURAL DIMENSION OF "ABIDANCE" AND ITS REFLECTION IN THE MEDIA: THE CASE OF UZBEKISTAN AND KYRGYZSTAN
The basic institution of society is the family. Traditions and customs that have continued from past to present play an important role in the formation of the family. Every nation and society has its own unique marriage traditions. These traditions are formed by being nourished by religion, values and cultures. One of the traditional marriage types is marriage through kidnapping. Although the tradition of kidnapping girls is subject to reactions and criticism from many societies today, it continues in some societies. Traditions and traditions are a process that develops depending on cultural changes. In this way, it adapts to changing conditions and continues its existence. In Turkish culture, marriage, which is at important transition points of societies in different periods of history, also appears in various dimensions. The aim of this study is to evaluate the tradition of marriage through abduction in Turkish culture through the Republics of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. In the study, the way in which girl abduction events were reflected in the media was investigated using the discourse analysis method. This research is limited to the example of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, and the phenomenon of marriage by kidnapping has been examined scientifically.
