Abstract
PROBLEMS AND SOLUTION SUGGESTIONS OF SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHERS IN DISTANCE EDUCATION PROCESS
It is important to reveal the results and suggestions about the problems that social studies teachers experience in the process of teaching in distance education, in interaction with students and in their relations with the school administration. The aim of this research is to evaluate the problems and solution proposals of social studies teachers during the distance education process. The research was carried out with the case study model, which is one of the qualitative research methods. The study group of the research consists of 28 social studies teachers, 26 of whom are male and 2 are female. The criterion sampling method, which is one of the purposeful sampling methods, was used to determine the study group. A semi-structured interview form consisting of six questions was used to collect the data. The interview form was prepared online and presented to the teachers due to the ongoing epidemic process. In the analysis of the obtained data, the opinions of the teachers were divided into codes and themes by using the content analysis technique. As a result of the research findings, teachers; It has been determined that they are experiencing technical problems arising from the technological infrastructure and that they are trying to produce solutions by making use of online applications. According to the teachers, it was stated that the students had problems due to internet access, and they applied to the environment and parent relations for the problems they experienced. In addition, it has been concluded that since the school administrations cannot manage the distance education process well, the teachers have problems and they produce conciliatory solutions against the school administrations. As a result of the research findings, suggestions such as developing the technological infrastructure for distance education, carrying out measurement-evaluation activities effectively, training school administrators to produce crisis-oriented solutions are presented.
