Abstract
REHABILITATION POLICY AND ITS IMPACT ON THE FUNCTIONAL ROLE OF AL-MUTANABI STREET IN BAGHDAD CITY
All cities of the world, including Baghdad, need continuous attention in their traditional center as a witness to their urban heritage through rehabilitation, and this is what happened with Al-Mutanabi Street in the center of Baghdad as a result of its rehabilitation, a significant increase in the volume and rate of daily and weekly traffic through it, where the results of the field study of the land uses in it and the answers of the sample explained the problem of the study and its hypothesis, which imposed the importance and role of its central location, its urban function, its activities and services that it provides to street users and those coming to it, in addition to its rehabilitation with this civilized appearance and beautiful visual scene so that all of this is reflected in the increase in the number of people coming to the street daily, morning and evening, especially during peak times, and the weekly traffic volume reached (29992) people / week, with a daily average of (4285) people / day, and for the morning and evening peaks together, in order to achieve more than one goal of the trip because of its factors that encourage the achievement of integration for more than one purpose of the trip in it, so the study proposals matched with most of the sample proposals to expand the street to develop urban and service activities in line with those increasing numbers of people coming to it to meet the purposes of their various trips.
