TÜRK SİYASETİNDE 1980 DARBESİ VE OTORİTER SİYASETİN TEZAHÜRÜ
In this study, which firstly deals with the political and economic reasons that constituted the 1980 coup, it is evaluated that the politicians before the coup could not bring the conflict in the parliament and the street to a consensus. In the economic field, 24 January Decisions were proposed as a solution to increasing inflation and external borrowing. It is not possible to implement these economic decisions with the current libertarian constitution. Dramatic legal changes after the coup transformed the Turkish economy into a neoliberal economic model. These transformations occurred with the authoritarian sanctions of the army. The praetorian structure of the Turkish army caused it to emerge as a savior to the deep problems of the system before the 1980 coup. The 1980 coup and the post-process, the authoritarian tradition of Turkish politics was reproduced and democratic values were damaged.
