Abstract
MAN/ POCKET SIZE DARLING SHAPED ACCORDING TO NEEDS IN NAZLI ERAY'S STORIES IN THE CONTEXT OF FANTASTIC FEMALE HUMOR
Nazlı Eray, one of the important representatives of fantastic writing in Turkish literature, creates texts in the genres of novels, stories and fairy tales by going beyond the usual fictional order between reality and dream, now and yesterday. In these narratives, in which reality is combined outside of the ordinary flow but without being completely separated from it, systematic transfer, which is exempt from space and time, occurs. Feminist criticism, which is used as a means of resistance, is synthesized with fantasy and humor in stories in which different stories are mounted on the same template. Preserving a similar theme and approach, fantastic feminine humor and the problems seen in the relationships between men and women are told in the form of bringing together people who cannot be together in daily life. While the current problem evolves from individualism to universalism, it is argued that no class is superior in the face of gender-oriented problems.
The fantastic attitude, which is brought together with humor in Nazlı Eray's stories, is carried into an intrigue fiction by combining supernatural beings or men and women with extraordinary perspectives around the same problem. The male-female relations, selected from the lowest and highest layers of the society, are presented by the female narrator through fantastic stories with an approach that destroys existing assumptions. In this study, seventeen stories named “Çok Üzülen Fotoğraf”, “Copa Cabana”, “Yaralı Fotoğraf”, “Revani”, “Seni Seviyorum”, “Taksim Meydanı”, “Gülen Gözler Pastanesi”, “Dün Gece ve Bu Sabah”, “Rüya Sokağı”, “Unutmayı Başlatma Düğmesi”, “Adamkaçtı”, “Pazartesi Gecesi Düşü”, “Anıları Paylaşmak”, “Hücre Mühendisi”, “Mutluluk Kliniği”, “Erkek İade Reyonu” and “Kıl Arşivi” which are included in Nazlı Eray's books Hazır Dünya and Aşk Artık Burada Oturmuyor, will be analyzed with the method of fantastic feminine humor. Thus, the different aspects of the process of staying under the siege of gender stereotypes in the world designed by the narrator woman, who creates her lover or husband as a "pocket size" whenever she wants, in the fantasy space where she escapes from reality, will be evaluated within the framework of fantastic and humor.
