Abstract
THE ATTITUDES OF TEACHER CANDIDATES TOWARD TEACHING PROFESSION
The aim of this study is to discover the attitudes of 1st and 4th year teacher candidates studying in Faculty of Education of Sakarya University towards teaching profession. Based on scanning model, the sample of the study included all students in the department of educational counseling and guidance and elementary math education who have been selected purpose fully. The total number of students was 191. The data was an alized by using SPSS program and mean, standart divisionand t-test were calculated. The findings of the study reveal that woman teacher condidates have shown higher score of positive attitudes towards teaching profession than those of man teacher candidates. The study has also found that Professional attitudes of 4th year teacher candidates are higer than 1st year teacher candidates. No correlation has been found between the field of education in which teacher candidates are and the attitudes they have towards teaching profession.
