Abstract
SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHERS' PERCEPTIONS OF THE CONCEPT OF "SCHOOL PRINCIPAL":A METAPHOR STUDY
This study, which was carried out to determine the perceptions of secondary school teachers about the concept of "school principal" through metaphors, was carried out with the voluntary participation of 107 secondary school teachers working in public secondary schools in the town of Çarşamba, Samsun. The research is qualitative and patterned with phenomenology. The interview form with the question "School principal is like………, because………", prepared by the researcher, was applied to the study group and the teachers were asked to fill in the blanks. The answers given by the study group were categorized according to the reason for use and the findings of the research were obtained. In the light of the findings, it was concluded that secondary school teachers mostly preferred the metaphors of "father", "lion" and "ant" related to the concept of "school principal", and according to the reason, they mostly responded in the categories of "leadership", "justice" and "diligence". It was determined that all of the teachers who made up the study group used positive metaphors about the concept of school principal.
