Abstract


TELEVISION VIEWING HABITS OF TEENAGERS IN HIGH SCHOOL AND WISH IT DAILY REFLECTION
As a socio-cultural being, language has a sensitive structure liable to be influenced by all sorts of daily activities. Daily endeavors, interpersonal relationships, educational activities, entertainment, etc. have substantial effects on language. Especially the repercussions of primetime television programs on the family and on the individual can be observed tangibly. That the spreading of the tools used in television serials and that naming of workplaces according to the names seen in those serials are proofs of this influence. This effect cannot be limited with these concrete assets. For example, the speaking abilities of people are filled with the sentences of the characters of serials – deliberately or not. Intonation and emphases get closer with those of the people seen on the screen. The accuracy of this phenomenon is even not discussed. In this research, the practice of watching television of the female students at Girls’ Technical and Vocational High School of Amasya were studied and the relationship between the results and the manner with which they employ Turkish language was focused on and what affects these youngsters most was investigated. At the end of the study, it was found out that abilities of usage of Turkish in daily life are influenced as well as the clothing, make up, walking habits of high school youngsters.
