Abstract
EVULATING THE COUNCILS OF NATIONAL EDUCATION IN THE CONTEXT OF TEACHER EDUCATION AND TEACHER TRAINING
National Education Councils have been held 19 times since 1939. In these councils, the problems in our education system were discussed and these problems were approached from different perspectives. In this study, suggestions were offered for the solutions of the problems discussed in the councils. The decisions related to "Teacher Education and Teacher Training" were identified and evaluated.The evaluation showed that 19 councils have been held to date. The agenda items of these councils included 17 general items, which were education, program, pre-school, elementary school, middle school, primary school, high school, vocational education, higher education, teacher training, public education, guidance, globalisation, private schools, culture, school safety and enhancing administrators' qualities, and 96 subsequent items related to these general items. When the agenda items of the councils were examined, it was found that only six subsequent items (9,37%) were related to teacher training.
