Abstract


AN ANALYSİS OF DOCTORAL THESES ON PRİMARY SCHOOL SOCİAL STUDİES COURSE
The aim of this research is to examine doctoral dissertations conducted within the scope of social studies course in terms of purpose, method, findings and conclusion. In line with this purpose, it is aimed to provide readers with an overview of there search conducted with in the scope of the social studies course. This research has been designed in accordance with the scanning model. The working group of there search consists of 86 doctoral dissertations, 60 of which are domestic and 26 foreign, that have been conducted within the scope of the social studies course since 2000. These theses have been accessed by using YÖK's national thesis scanning center database and proquest research engine. When these theses are examined in terms of their methods, it is seen that the most used method as research method is mixed research methods with 41 research, and the mixed research methods are followed by qualitative research methods with 29 studies and quantitative research methods with 16 studies. It is seen that titles such as basic skills, teaching strategies, approaches and models, values education and teaching activities and practices have emerged.
