Abstract
ZAMAKHSHARI’S COMMENTS AND ANALYSIS ON THE CONCEPT OF JUSTICE IN KASHSHAF
The concept of justice is at the forefront of the issues that have been discussed since the beginning of social relations between people. This concept is also a phenomenon that all people long for and need. For this reason, the first strong bond that Allah ordered in the social context was justice (Nahl, 90). As a matter of fact, justice and different concepts related to it are emphasized in the Qur'an. Many people have commented on the word justice. Zamakhshari is one of them. Zamakhshari is a person who belongs to the Mutazila opinion circle. His tafseer called “al-Keşşâf” is quite famous. While explaining words and concepts in literal context in the aforementioned commentary, he mostly dealt with the five basic principles of Mutazila. In fact, the principle of justice is among the five basic principles that Mutazila accepted after the principle of Tawhid. God is absolutely just. He never treats his servants unjustly. Man, on the other hand, has a free space in his will and behavior. His actions are entirely his own. He will be held responsible for them in the next world. Therefore, whether man believes in God or rebels, God will judge man with justice. In this study, the concept of justice, which Zamakhshari dealt with in the axis of his commentary named al- Kashshaf, was discussed and its analysis was made.
