Abstract
YORUK TYPE ANECDOTES IN THE TRADITION OF TELLING ANECDOTES IN ÇUKUROVA REGION
Turkish anectodes are very rich in a variety of types. Besides, several characteristics come to the fore with “individual personalities”, people, representing their region (people of Black Sea region, people of Karatepe region etc.), groups (Yoruks, Mevlevı etc.), citizenship (Turks, Germans, British etc.), occupations (ımam, politician, teacher, doctor, driver, hunter etc.), economic situation (rich-poor), different social environment (peasant-urban, nomadic-settler etc.), may be the type of anectode. Entitlement and classification of the anectodes are implemented based on those types. In this research, Yoruk type anectodes, which have a role in the tradition of telling anecdotes in Çukurova Region has been evaluated. In the culture of telling anectodes in Çukurova Region, Yoruks have an important role. Most of the Yoruks, leading a nomadic life related to stockbreeding during the history, settled down; however, it is encountered the ones who still lead their traditional life with some changes and transformations. In the region apart from this mentioned type of life, sedentary culture wealth is at issue. Difference between these two cultures and conflict due to it, brought about several anectodes. In this sense, 43 anectodes have been analyzed in terms of their form and contents, it was aimed to identify their place in the tradition of telling anectodes in Çukurova Region. The type of Yoruks names as Aydınlı, Hayta, Honamlı and Tekeli in anectodes has a lack of religious knowledge, not very into his prayers, and interprets religious subjects according to his life style. The Yoruk, in his immigrating life, is far from established culture, foreign to city life, shepherds his animals, and is püre, friendly, helpful, repartee and outspoken
