Abstract
EXAMINING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LEADERSHIP STYLES OF SCHOOL PRINCIPALS AND TEACHERS’ QUALITY OF WORK LIFE, JOB SATISFACTION ACCORDING TO TEACHERS’ PERCEPTIONS
The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between teachers’ quality of work life, job satisfaction and leadership styles of school principals according to teachers’ perceptions. Study sample comprises teachers working at pre-schools, primary schools, secondary schools and high schools in the Çaycuma district of Zonguldak province. For this study, stratified sampling method, which is one of non-random sampling methods, was used to determine a total of 274 teachers working at private and public schools in Çaycuma. This study was conducted by using descriptive scanning method and Leadership Styles of School Principals, Teachers’ Quality of Work Life and Job Satisfaction Scales were used as data collection instruments. T-test and variance analysis (ANOVA) were used to analyze the research data in terms of research questions. The results of the analysis showed that according to the perceptions of female and male participants there is a significant difference only in the subscale behaviors of leadership styles of school principals, teachers quality of work life and taking over responsibilities at work. When the perceptions of participants were examined in terms of their seniority levels, significant differences were found in leadership styles of school principals and teachers’ quality of work life behaviors. No significant difference was found in teachers’ job satisfaction according to gender and seniority levels.
