Abstract
THE DEVELOPMENTAL READING PORTFOLIO AND THE INVESTIGATION ITS EFFECT ON READING SKILLS
The study was carried out in order to define the use of reading development portfolio and effect of portfolio on the reading skills. In this context the reading portfolio survey, the achievement test and the reading attitude scale were used as measurement tools. The number of middle school students are 8180 in the city center of Kirsehir according to data acquired from Provincial Directorate of National Education. In this universe, 597 students were taken as the sample. The assessment instruments were administered to students in the fall semester of 2014-2015 academic year. Consequently, it is defined that the teachers observe development of their students’ reading skills; however, they don’t hold a file as a developmental reading portfolio for each and every student. On the other hand, it is determined that the reading attitude and number of the books read by students have increased thanks to following students’ reading development.
