Abstract
THE APPARENT AND INNER ROLES OF INTEGRATION IN PRODUCT DESIGN
The research discussed the roles of functional integration between
the apparent and the inner systems in product design. Starting
from the goal of determining the types of functional integration
between the apparent and the inner systems in the design of the
industrial product. The concepts of the apparent and the inner
systems were reviewed in literary propositions and design
proposals. In addition to exposure to functional integration
propositions in the design literature, this does not accept any doubt
that the apparent complementarity refers to the links and
relationships between the body parts and the function and user
interfaces. As for sub-integration, it refers to the links between the
function of each part of the sub-system in product design and the
groups of parts as a unified performance system and its
relationship to the groups of other parts. By emphasizing the role of
proportion and harmony in achieving functional integration
between the the apparent and the inner systems. And determining
the dimensions of functional integration between the the apparent
and the inner systems, which have been defined by a number of
dimensions, such as: information integration, functional integration
and relationship integration. As well as determining the levels of
functional integration between the apparent and the inner systems
at levels: divergent integration, contact integration, continuous
integration, interlocking integration and unified integration. The
research reached a set of conclusions, the most important of which
were: Achieving functional integration between the apparent and
the inner system, improving the performance relationship between
the internal functions and user interfaces concerned with them,
and the coordination and communication between the inner system
and its parts and the apparent and its relationships. Functional
integration is important in increasing interaction between systems
in product design and establishing streamlined relationships between parts to perform functions in a manner that does not allow
for errors or problems during the product’s work.
