Abstract
AN OVERVIEW OF ORGANIZATIONAL COMMUNICATION RESEARCH: DEVELOPMENTS IN GRDAUATE THESES
The purpose of this research to outline the developments in the field on "organizational communication" in Turkey. Within the scope of the research, all open-access theses on “organizational communication” have been examined without any date limitation. In the study case study design was used and the data were analyzed by descriptive method. When the results obtained in theses are examined; it has been determined that the organizational communication level in schools is mostly sufficient and that the communication skills of school administrators are moderately sufficient. Variables in a positive relationship with the perception of organizational communication; leadership, organizational commitment, trust, change method; ,it was concluded that the perceptions that have a negative relationship are determined as organizational cynicism, conflict, centralization and burnout. Decision participation, organizational identification, transformational leadership, communication skills, and perceptions of self-efficacy are variables that predict organizational communication; it was found that organizational cynicism, strategic planning practices in schools and perceptions of trust were determined as variables predicted by organizational communication. Authors’ suggestions to policymakers and practitioners were often about enabling further in-service training activities or seminar about the field of organizational communication; creating horizontal, transparent, effective and bidirectional communication channels; it has been observed that it is expressed as increasing social activities. When the suggestions presented to the researchers are examined, it has seen that studies can be conducted mostly in different sample groups; the effect of different variables on organizational communication can be investigated and qualitative methods can be preferred.
