Abstract
BİLGİSAYAR TEKNOLOJİLERİ PROGRAMI ÖĞRENCİLERİNİN BİLGİSAYAR DESTEKLİ ÇEVRE EĞİTİMİ HAKKINDAKİ GÖRÜŞLERİ
The aim of this study was to analyze views of the students studying at the department of Computer Technologies on computer-aided environmental education. A case-study design was employed with this aim. The study group consisted of 30 students studying at the department of Computer Technologies at Antakya Vocational School of Hatay Mustafa Kemal University. A semi-structured interview form was used to get the students’ opinions about computer-aided environmental education. The data were obtained through student interviews conducted following computer-aided environmental education having lasted for six weeks. The technique of content analysis was employed to analyze the data obtained. The students generally reported positive ways of computer-aided education as its being instructive, catchy and enjoyable and allowing to use instructive videos. On the other hand, they stated negative ways of it as its being insufficient, having long-lasting slides, not providing active participation, not being appropriate for student level and not encouraging motivation. They also suggested that the method implemented be practice-oriented, brief and to the point, intertwined with nature and student-centered. In addition, the students stressed that the education contributed considerably to their environmental literacy levels.
