Abstract
VOCABULARY OF SHEYHU’L-ISLAM YAHYA
Many words have been borrowed in Turkish under the influence of the size of the geography in which it is spoken and the political and cultural relations it establishes as a result. These quoted words have been used effectively in vocabulary. Especially in the 11th century, when the Turks began to migrate to Islam, the Turks started to produce works influenced by Arabic and Persian literature, produced instructive works for the Turks to learn Islam and made translations of the Qur'an. In this study, the vocabulary of Shayhu'l-ıslam Yahya’s Divân, which is written in the 17th century, will be evaluated in terms of borrowings and native words. The results obtained from this evaluation will be compared with the early Islamic works and the place and proportion of loan words in the written language of the last six centuries will be determined.
