Abstract
A QUALITATIVE STUDY OF OPINIONS OF PROSPECTIVE SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHERS TOWARD ECONOMICS CLASS
Mustafa Kemal Ataturk told about why economics is important at Turkey Economy Congress’s Opening Ceremony. There are other people who are still alive and discuss economics in terms of social sciences. Joseph A. Tainter, developed a theory about collapsing of complex societies due to economic reasons. According to Paul Kennedy there is a strong relationship between economic and military power and this relationship causes collapsing of past empires and this reality is valid for present and future empires as well. Aim of this research proves that economics class in social studies license program has to be taught by social scientists with reasons. Case study is method of this research. 26 students were selected for research as study group with purposeful sampling. Semi-structured interview is data collection of this study. Data obtained toward research’s aim were interpreted and supported via direct citations. Teacher candidates generally appreciate of how much important is economics but complain about lecturer.
