Abstract


PRE-SERVICE BIOLOGY TEACHERS’ OPINIONS ON TECHNOLOGY SUPPORTED MICROTEACHING APPLICATIONS
Pre-service teachers are have to be well prepared for teaching profession at the faculties before starting their profession. Micro teaching is one of the techniques applied in pre-service education for students’ to gain and develop their effective teaching skills. Technology-supported micro-learning is the learning environment with the addition of technological tools to the micro-learning. The aim of this study is to examine the pre-service teachers' opinions about microteaching. In this research content analysis technique, which is one of the qualitative research techniques, was used. The study group consisted of 39 pre-service teachers who successfully completed pedagogical formation certificate program in biology education in one of the state university in Central Anatolia Region. The research has been applied within the scope of Instructional Technologies and Material Development course for 14 weeks. During this course video recordings were kept by the researcher during the presentations of the pre-service teachers and then the records were shared with them at the end of the presentation. After they watched their records they made their self-evaluations. The data of the study was obtained from semi-structured interview form. The data obtained from the research were analyzed by creating categories and codes in ATLAS.ti program. According to the results of the research, the data analyzed into two categories. The first one is the opinions of the pre-service teachers’ opinions about self-evaluation after watching their video recordings. The data showed that the trainees' favored characteristics (f = 49) were less emphasized than the disliked features (f = 90). The second analysis were depends on the opinions about micro teaching at the end of the applications. Pre-service teachers determined their positive opinions (f =185) and negative opinions (f =15). As a result of the research, it has been concluded that the technology supported application process has developed pre-service teachers’ professions.
