Abstract
WRITING ERRORS OF FOREIGN STUDENTS LEARNING TURKISH AT TOKAT GOU-TOMER
Writing skill which is one of the four language skills (reading, listening, speaking, writing) is more difficult to learn and comprehend as a foreign language. Since the errors can be seen easily in writing skill, it needs to be well written. Thus, students do not feel comfortable when they write. Students having different alphabet and different language family, have difficulty when they have an academic writing. In this study writing skill has been examined as a language skill. Later, writing skill on teaching Turkish as a foreign language has been investigated. Common European Framework of Reference has been established to develop common rules on teaching foreign languages, so this reference should be used as criteria on teaching Writing skill. The aim of the study is to determine the errors of Turkish as foreign language learners’ writing activities. The study has been applied to 27 foreign students from Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Azerbaijan studying Turkish at Gaziosmanpasa University, Turkish Language Teaching and Application Center (GOÜ-TOMER). This is a qualitative and case study. While analyzing the data, the errors have been divided into four parts: errors on alphabet, punctuation, affixion and word context. While evaluation, correct form of errors have been written in tables. Suggestions have been determined to develop writing skill.
