Abstract
MYSTERIOUS CHILDREN OF IMAGE
The depictions of naked women in the history of Visual Arts have been discussed since the beginning of art to the present. Artists such as Egon Schiele, Felicien Rops, Edgar Degas, Lucian Freud, Gustave Courbet and Édouard Manet are some of the artists who produced these images. They have been criticized by the circles in which they were exhibited at different times and became the target of protests or physical attacks. But, when looking at the artworks of Balthus(Balthasar Klossowski de Rola), the kind of the discomfort is different. Because the models used in these paintings are children. These children have attitude and behaviors that are not suitable for childhood. Based on the work of Balthus, the artworks with child models were analyzed.
The reaction of Mia Merrill to the children's obscene images that he initiated through a petition is an important beginning that leads the article. Although the examples in the article are described as artworks, it is the main factor of the study whether the children models subject to these works are used for negative purposes under cover of art. Therefore, the concepts of child-art-abuse-obscenity have been investigated in the fields of law, art and social life.
