Abstract
REFLECTIONS of TRIPOLI WAR on OTTOMAN PRESS
Tripoli is quite important in terms of geography in which it is located and its geopolitical position. It is an important trade center in North Africa. Remained under the domination of Ottoman Empire within the period from 1551 to the Tripoli War of 1911-1912, Tripoli is one of places to which Ottoman Empire gave a lot of importance in North Africa. Italy, which could not obtain enough colonial area(s) for itself after the Industrial Revolution, set its sights on Tripoli. For this reason, Italy deflected its direction into Tripoli. Italy which saw Tripoli as an important target prepared for about thirty years to carry these targets through a succesful result. Italy landed troops to Tripoli in 1911 with contributions of other states including France and thus the occupation began. The war was hard and tough. Araps and Turks, who fighted against the Italians in the region, showed a great struggle. This war, which happened between the years through 1911 and 1912, got various reactions from the World. These reactions and news constitute main subject of our study. In this study, we mainly gave place to news, on Tripoli War, of various newspapers on local press and according to information obtained from local press, we addressed events and facts which occured under conditions of the period and during course of the war.
