Abstract
Sports in the Turks has been one of the national cultural assets that show the power, agility and bodily abilities of the Turks. As in the other Turkish states, activities such as wrestling, hunting, shooting, archery, equestrian, sword, weight lifting, mace and ball use, javelin and rebound are the forefront in the Ottoman Empire. The sports such as wrestling, equestrian, javelin and archery, which were performed in the form of a competition, became traditional and turned into our ancestral sports. Especially during the splendid periods of the Ottoman Empire, wrestling, shooting, equestrianism, hunting, archery and javelin games stand out as the sports supported by the palace and the Sultan. Riding has led to a change in the way of life and history of the Turks. Equestrianism and horseback riding made it easier for them to migrate from their homeland to different regions and gained superiority, speed and aggression over their enemies.
