Abstract
VİSİT OF THE GERMAN EMPEROR KAISER WILHELM II TO THE ALLİED OTTOMAN EMPİRE (1917)
Visits made by German Empire Kaiser Wilhelm II. to Ottoman lands, have become rather effective in the development of Ottoman-German relations. Among these visits, third visit of Wilhelm II during the World War I, carries a particular importance. Ottoman army and people who entered the war with great expectations, have suffered great losses and fought against hunger in this period and the visit of German Emperor was thought to uplift the morale. In his visit, the Kaiser first came to İstanbul and then went to Çanakkale where the Central Powers won a great victory. The Emperor, his royal highness, first received information on the naval warfare in Çanakkale and then went to Gallipoli peninsula to see the Arıburnu, Anafartalar and other battlefields. Wilhelm who stated that with the Çanakkale Victory, Ottoman army added another victory to its victories in the past and mentioned the valor of Turkish soldiers. He often talked of friendly relations between two allied countries and emphasized that a great victory was to be achieved in the near future. With this visit, the message that Germans would stand in unity with the world of İslam in the World War I, was given. Emperor Wilhelm showed the whole world the support he provided to their allies in the hardest days of war.
