Abstract
THE MUSLIM WOMEN SCHOLARS IN FATMA ALİYE HANIM’S BOOK
Fatıma Aliye (Topuz, 1862-1936), a daughter of Ottoman state man and scholar man Ahmed Cevdet Pasha, is one of the most important women of the Tanzimat period. His books total has ten. Some of these are related to literature. Some of them are related to biography. Two of them are related to philosophy and theology. All of his works have been translated into modern Turkish. Two of them are important of philosophy and theology. One is called Terâcim-i Ahvâl-i Felâsife (Biographies of Philosophers) and the other one is Tedkik-i Ecsâm (Study of Substances). Terâcim-i Ahvâl-i Felâsife (Istanbul, 1317) and Tedkik-i Ecsam (İstanbul: 1317) was published in Hanımlara Mahsus Gazete. Teracim-i Ahval-i Felasife is a 205 page small book. In the book has circa 300 biographical information. In this book has about 100 philosophical and theological concepts that are explained. This is the subject of article is muslim women scholars. These names are in the Aliye Hanım’s book that Terâcim-i Ahvâl-i Felâsife.
