Abstract
MIGRANT INFORMATION ACTIVITIES OF INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS IN TURKEY
The migration that is the fact of Turkey's geography and history has peaked for Turkey as result of becoming most generous country in the last three year by becoming home for more than 3 million Syrian citizens and spending in excess 6 billion TL for humanitarian aid. This field is the most important activity area of the related international institutions as well as many public institutions including the General Directorate of Immigration, AFAD and The Turkish Red Crescent. In order to make the activities that are made more effective, there is a need for an accurate and reliable communication and information mechanism for the beneficiary immigrants. In this study, it is aimed to find out the information activities for immigrants carried out by United Nations International Organization for Migration (IOM), United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the International Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and the Delegation of European Union to Turkey which are the international organizations operating in this area. It is aimed in the study that presenting recommendations by putting forth the information activities are carried out within the framework of strategic communication according to the characteristics of the target group
In the study, by using written sources initially presentations made by national and international institutions representatives at "the Migrant Information Activities Area Inter-Agency Cooperation Consultation Meeting" held in Ankara on 20-21 June 2018 date conducted by the "Turkey Migration Management Study of Support" Project funded by the European Union and the Republic of Turkey, literature research and source collection method will be used.
The study results at the International Organization of immigrants informational activities in Turkey; it is understood that the existing interagency coordination needs improvement due to its versatile and multi-message. However, more intensive use of the speech language for the target audience was required, as well as communication requiring more face to face communication.
